INDY DRAG THEATRE
IDT, a queer-friendly theatre dedicated to making a safe space and shining a spotlight on the LGBTQIA+ community, was looking to add more pizzazz to its marketing.
Their shows almost exclusively feature drag parodies of existing properties and require creative graphics that evoke the original shows, giving them a fresh spin by integrating drag into the premise.
IDT's graphic needs are more diverse in scope, in that planning and designing them allows a broad range of creative freedom. In my time working with them, I have been able to blend their built style guide with my own creative eye to design graphics and capture photos to make each show feel, in IDT's own word, "Precosious!"

Night School Musical
Show Graphics & Photos
Being a drag parody of the mid-2000s movie High School Musical, I was given a lot of freedom to play with the various themes throughout all the movies, as well as my own recounts of life as a high schooler.
A lot of the graphics made for this show required quick turnaround, as a majority of what I made would be used as Instagram stories. Posts more like the yearbook were made with the intention of being filled out later by another member of the marketing team.

Snatch Game of Love
Show Graphics & Photos
This venture was something different from Indy Drag's normal performances. Snatch Game of Love was an improvisational game show where contestants did drag of famous people or characters, then answered questions from an audience member chosen at random. While the first iteration of the show was in 2026, a sequel is slated for IDT's 2027 season, and I was in charge of making marketing graphics for both shows.
For 2026, I spent more time researching the premise of the show itself and ended up making graphics that felt like a cheesy 70s game show. In planning for the 2027 show, I took a new approach, more closely finding a balance between a game night with friends and an episode of Game Changers on Dropout TV.
While I was mainly in charge of the logo for 2026, planning out an extended marketing schedule and building graphics accordingly will happen under my watch for the upcoming event next year.

SIX:
A Drag Parody
Show Graphics & Photos
SIX: A Drag Parody Musical indicated a new chapter in Indy Drag Theatre's life in that it had moved into a new performance space.
In looking at the non-parody show's logo, replacing the "I" with a high heel was an absolute necessity. Instead of making the letters 3D like in the original, I opted to use neon lighting more evocative of a nightclub. In the background, the colors of the mesh gradient represent each of the queens centered around the show.
As for photos, my role was twofold: capturing the show was number one, but showing off IDT's new playspace was a big secondary goal. Throughout the photo process, I switched between tight close-ups and wider group shots to show off both the talent on stage and the potential that IDT's future performances could have.
